CDN Conference 2012, Darwin NT
Welcome
It is my pleasure to invite you to register for the 16th Annual Chronic Diseases Network Conference. The conference theme, which was decided on by the delegates from 2011, is "promoting Healthy Childhood – Preventing Chronic Conditions”. The conference will be at the Darwin Convention Centre on the 20th – 21st of September 2012.
The conference program will explore the range of factors during the early years that contribute to chronic diseases later in life. Chronic diseases can be the result of influences during pregnancy, childhood, or adolescence. Influences on chronic conditions later in life include, but are not limited to, whether a mother smokes in pregnancy, a child’s diet and level of physical activity, exposure to domestic violence, parenting, and social determinants of health such as level of schooling, and the socioeconomic status of the family.
On Behalf of the organising committee, I would like to thank our generous sponsors for their support of this event. We encourage everyone to take up the opportunities this conference will offer, by sponsoring, presenting or registering to attend. We look forward to welcoming you to this event.
